About the Band

We might sound repetitive, but that’s because we’re a bit obsessive.
Fossilization are a band we’ve wanted to collaborate with for years — one of the most overwhelming Death Doom entities we’ve learned to live with.

There’s something apocalyptic, terrifying, yet hypnotic in Fossilization’s music, as if they were condensing into sound the exact moment when angels turn from protectors into executioners.

The Brazilian duo was formed less than six years ago (2020). Already active in another devastating project, Jupiterian, they chose to move toward a form of Death Metal with an unmistakable Doom dimension. And despite their relatively short existence — a few splits and a second album on the way — there is absolutely nothing ordinary about what they do.

What unfolds is a suffocating, relentless descent into the bowels of the earth, where only what has never known light or breathable air can survive. In these cramped spaces, every sound reverberates endlessly, offering no respite.
The titles speak for themselves — “He Whose Name Was Long Forgotten”, “Once Was God” — evoking something that existed long before and will endure long after the fall of humanity: entities that feel closer to abstract concepts than living beings.

The artwork for “Advent of Wounds”, due out soon, marks the first collaboration between Fossilization and Guang Yang — a striking visual counterpart that aligns seamlessly with the apocalyptic and uncompromising vision of the São Paulo duo.

The artwork behind the t-shirt

Fossilization’s aesthetic has always been remarkably consistent. Even the band’s name alone evokes a vision of death where little remains beyond bones and centuries-old blackened dust.

Then came the first single from the new album, “Cremation of a Seraph” — an evocative title, a blasphemous act, and a clear conceptual guide for the design.

The body that once belonged to a sacred, otherworldly being is now nothing more than a mass of wounds and deformities. The left hand, resting on the shoulder in what might once have been a gesture of reassurance, has fused into the flesh itself. There are no white feathers left to suggest peace or transcendence — only a tangled mass of thorns and burns.
